Using SWOTPal

Learn how to get the most out of SWOT, TOWS matrix, and PESTLE analyses. Understand each framework, best practices, and tips for actionable strategic insights.

How accurate is SWOTPal's AI analysis?
SWOTPal uses advanced AI models to generate analyses based on the input you provide. Accuracy depends on: (1) Input quality — a detailed annual report produces more specific insights than a company name alone; (2) Data recency — the AI's knowledge has a training cutoff, so very recent events may not be reflected; (3) Topic coverage — well-known companies and industries produce stronger analyses than very niche topics. We recommend reviewing and refining the AI output, especially for high-stakes presentations. The AI provides an excellent starting point that typically saves 2-3 hours of manual research.
What is a TOWS matrix and how does it work?
A TOWS matrix is an extension of SWOT analysis that maps your findings into four actionable strategy categories: (1) SO Strategies — use Strengths to capitalize on Opportunities; (2) WO Strategies — address Weaknesses by leveraging Opportunities; (3) ST Strategies — use Strengths to mitigate Threats; (4) WT Strategies — minimize Weaknesses and avoid Threats. SWOTPal automatically generates the TOWS matrix from your SWOT results, turning static analysis into actionable strategic recommendations. Available on Premium and Ultra plans.
What is PESTLE analysis?
PESTLE analysis examines six macro-environmental factors affecting an organization: Political (government policies, regulations), Economic (market conditions, inflation, exchange rates), Social (demographics, cultural trends), Technological (innovation, automation, R&D), Legal (employment law, consumer protection), and Environmental (sustainability, climate impact). SWOTPal generates PESTLE alongside SWOT to give you a comprehensive view of both internal factors (SWOT) and external environment (PESTLE). Available on Premium and Ultra plans.
How do I export my analysis as PDF?
Open any saved analysis and click the "Export PDF" button in the top-right area. The PDF includes your complete SWOT analysis with color-coded quadrants, and TOWS/PESTLE sections if generated. The export is formatted for professional presentations and client deliverables. PDF export is available on Premium and Ultra plans.
Can I edit the AI-generated analysis?
Yes! After generation, you can edit any part of the analysis directly in the editor. Add, remove, or modify individual points in each SWOT quadrant. This is the recommended workflow: let AI generate the baseline, then refine with your domain expertise and specific knowledge. Your edits are saved automatically.
How do I analyze a PDF document?
Click "New Analysis" and select the PDF upload option. You can upload annual reports, research papers, business plans, or any PDF document. The AI reads the document content and generates a SWOT analysis based on the information found. For best results, use PDFs with text content (not scanned images). Maximum file size is 10MB.
Can I analyze a competitor's website by URL?
Yes! Enter any public URL when creating a new analysis. SWOTPal's AI will visit the page, analyze its content, and generate a SWOT analysis based on what it finds. This is especially useful for competitive analysis — paste a competitor's about page, product page, or investor relations page for targeted insights.
How do I use the LinkedIn to SWOT feature?
Enter a LinkedIn profile URL when creating a new analysis. The AI analyzes the professional profile and generates a personal SWOT analysis covering career strengths, skill gaps, growth opportunities, and professional threats. This is popular for career coaching, personal branding, and interview preparation. Note: only public LinkedIn profile information is analyzed.
Can I generate analysis in a different language than my input?
Yes! The input and output languages are independent. You can upload an English annual report and generate the analysis in Japanese, or paste a Chinese article and get the SWOT in English. Select your desired output language from the language dropdown before clicking Generate.
